Dr. Charles Corry

Charles CorryCharles E. Corry

Dr. Gorry is a Geophysicist/consultant/relational database administration/defense of civil liberties/domestic violence and family research/non-profit developer.

Career summary

Dr. Corry’s career includes preflight testing and failure analysis on Atlas and Centaur missiles, including all Project Mercury birds at General Dynamics Convair-Astronautics, San Diego, 1960-64. He was a research associate at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, La Jolla, California, from 1965-68 under Prof. Victor Vacquier and worked at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Falmouth, Massachusetts, the first time in 1968 on the Deep Sea Drilling Project. From 1977 to 1982 he was manager of geophysical research at AMAX, Golden, Colorado. In 1982 he and Prof. Walter Haisler from Texas A&M formed Nonlinear Analysis, Inc. and he was also a visiting and adjunct associate professor of geophysics at Texas A&M, College Station, from 1983-87. He served as an associate professor of geophysics at University of Missouri-Rolla from 1984-89. In 1990 he went back to Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution as the international coordinator for the World Ocean Circulation Experiment (WOCE) working with 30+ countries to map the global ocean. In mid-1995 he became a database consultant working out of Denver and Colorado Springs until 2001 when he founded the Equal Justice Foundation, where he remains as president and a founding director.

Achievements

Achievements include overturning of paradigm that had existed for over 150 years regarding galvanic current flow in ore bodies; discovery that ore minerals are commonly ferroelectrics and that ore bodies behave as a polarized dielectric medium, or solid plasma, in electrical surveys; development of controlled source audiomagnetotelluric method for electrical exploration; development of relational database design and data modeling; development of civil liberties, voting rights and prevention of election fraud; research in field and theoretical studies of magmatic intrusions; research in terrestrial heat flow studies in the North Pacific; research in intimate partner violence; coordination of hydrographic program of World Ocean Circulation Experiment.
